A kōrero with Dr Hinemoa Elder

It is an honour to announce the release of the sixth episode in our Whakapuāwai Podcast Series, featuring a kōrero with Dr Hinemoa Elder (Ngāti Kurī, Te Rarawa, Te Aupōuri, and Ngāpuhi).
Hinemoa is a child and adolescent psychiatrist who works at Starship Hospital’s Child & Family and Mother & Baby Units and various community clinics. Hinemoa also provides youth forensic court reports and neuropsychiatric assessment and treatment of traumatic brain injury in private practice. She is a Deputy Psychiatry Member of the New Zealand Mental Health Review Tribunal. She has collaborated on a number of publications, an example being the Maea te Toi Ora: Māori Health Transformations. This publication explores the relationship between Māori culture and Māori mental health.
Hinemoa has authored two taonga pukapuka; the first book/pukapuka: “Aroha - Māori Wisdom for a Contented Life Lived in Harmony with Our Planet” was the top selling Aotearoa/NZ non-fiction title of 2021. The second book, Wawata - Moon Dreaming Daily Wisdom Guided by Hina, the Māori Moon, was published in 2022.
