Māramatanga Indigenous Psychologies seminar with Aorangi Durie-Kora

Speaker: Aorangi Durie-Kora (Rangitāne, Ngāti Kauwhata, Te Whakatōhea, Ngāti Porou, Ngai Tahu, Rongowhakaata) is a Masters student and Junior Research Officer affiliated with the Centre for Indigenous Psychologies.

Aorangi presented the findings of her Kaupapa Māori Master’s research, which explored affirmative social media use among rangatahi Māori. Her research identified a strong Māori identity as contributing to positive social media practices and experiences and improved subjective wellbeing, however corporate interests and systemic racism continued to present potential barriers to rangatahi wellbeing.
