Māramatanga Indigenous Psychologies seminar with Deanna Haami

Speaker: Deanna Haami (Ngāti Tūwharetoa, Tapuika, Tuhourangi, Ngāti Pikiao, Te Wainui-a-Rua, Ngāti Maniapoto, Pākehā) is a PhD student and Assistant Lecturer affiliated with the Centre for Indigenous Psychologies.

Deanna presented her PhD research, which focuses on understanding the transmission of trauma through her whakapapa (ancestry) and how this intergenerational trauma has manifested in her lived reality. Intergenerational trauma has been identified as a significant part of the reality of many Indigenous peoples all over the world, with colonisation identified as the origin of this trauma.
